Day 1: Principles

Why conservation agriculture works and what it asks of a farmer.

Day 2: Soil

Reading soil health and protecting it with minimum disturbance.

Day 3: Cover

Mulches and cover crops that keep soil alive and moist.

Day 4: Rotation

Planning crop rotations that feed the soil and break pest cycles.

Day 5: Your Plan

Turning the principles into a plan for your own land.

How it works

  1. On the Farm

    All five days take place on an EARN farm in South Africa. Directions and a kit list are emailed after you book.

  2. What You Need

    Closed shoes, a hat and clothes you can work in. Protective gear is provided.

Common questions

What if I need a refund?

Cancel at least 14 days before your first session and we refund you in full. Inside 14 days, we move your seat to the next cohort at no cost instead.

What if I miss a live session?

Every live session is recorded and shared with your cohort within 24 hours, so you can catch up in your own time. Your facilitator also runs a short Q&A at the start of the next session.

Do I need my own land or equipment?

No. The online courses teach you how to plan, build and run a system before you spend a cent on equipment. In-person courses take place on EARN's working farms, where everything you need is ready for you.

Can I join from outside South Africa?

Yes. Online courses are open to anyone, anywhere, and we accept international cards. Live session times are set in South African time (SAST), so check how they fall in your time zone. In-person courses take place in South Africa.

Can I book for a group or a team?

Yes. Choose up to 10 seats when you book. For larger groups, cooperatives or company teams, contact us and we will put together a group package.
